Series adds; parallel adds reciprocals
Series impedance is the sum of the speaker ratings. For parallel wiring, add one divided by each impedance, then take the reciprocal of that total.
Nominal impedance is not constant
A real loudspeaker’s impedance changes with frequency. This arithmetic uses the nominal labels and does not model crossover networks, mixed series-parallel wiring or the impedance curve.
