The short version
UtilBear tools run entirely in your browser. The text you type, the files you select and the values you enter into a calculator are processed locally on your device and are never uploaded to our servers. We have no accounts, no user database and no way to see your content.
What we process
Tool input (text, files and calculator values) stays on your device. Some tools keep your input in your browser's session storage so it survives a page reload; it is removed when you close the tab and never transmitted.
Hosting and logs
The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes technical request data (such as IP addresses) to deliver the pages and protect against abuse, as any web host does.
Advertising and analytics
The site shows no advertising today, and no advertising cookies are set. We plan to add advertising, through Google AdSense, to keep the tools free. This section describes what will happen when it is switched on, so that you can read it before rather than after.
Once ads are switched on, third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or to other websites, and Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet. You can turn off personalised advertising at any time in Google Ads Settings, and you can opt out of personalised advertising from participating vendors at aboutads.info. If we ever add another ad network alongside Google, this policy will be updated to name it and link to its own policy, and the consent notice will list it too.
In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland you will be asked for consent through a Google-certified consent management platform before Google AdSense is loaded, and declining is a real option: the tools work the same either way. For traffic statistics we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views and measures page speed without cookies, without local storage and without tracking you across other sites.
When a conversion fails
If a file cannot be converted, or if your browser could not handle it at full size, we count what went wrong so that we can fix it. That counter records five things: the kind of failure, the two file formats involved, a rough size range such as "2-4 MB", how many files you picked at once failed in the same way, and, when the image had to be shrunk to fit your browser, how many times it was halved. The request itself tells us the browser and operating system family, and nothing more specific than that. It never includes your file, its name, its exact size, its contents, your location or anything that identifies you or your device, it sets no cookie and stores nothing on your device. Conversions that succeed at full size are not reported at all.
Calculator feedback
Calculator pages send fixed usage events when you first interact with a calculator, when a result is shown and when the feedback prompt appears. If you answer the prompt, we also record Yes or No and, after a No answer, one optional reason chosen from four fixed buttons. Each event identifies the calculator. We do not receive the values you entered, the result, free text, an account identifier or a device identifier. The feedback feature sets no cookie. We use these events only to understand how the calculators are used and what to improve.
